In a previous blog post, I mentioned how you can target people with upcoming birthdays.
Now that you know you are targeting people with upcoming birthdays, you now need to know what message to put in front of them.
The purpose of the message should be to drive them towards visiting your restaurant.
Today, I’m going to show you what to put in your messaging so you can generate $49,401.90 just from your birthday club like I did.
You Need An Offer
In order to get your customers to take action, you need to incentivize them.
Birthdays are the best time to incentivize customers because people like to feel special on their birthday.
If you put a good enough incentive in front of people with upcoming birthdays, not only will it be super relevant but it would be a no-brainer for them to claim the offer.
Your birthday offer can range anywhere from a free dessert to a free gift certificate or buy one get one free.
Ultimately, it’s your choice on what offer you give to your customer.
You Need To Display The Offer
Once you have decided on what offer you want to give to people with upcoming birthdays, you need to be able to communicate it effectively.
One of the biggest factors when it comes to communicating effectively is timing.
If you don’t time your message correctly, you will lessen your chances of acquiring the customer.
So how do you time your message effectively?
Well, first of all, we are doing a pretty good job of timing the messaging if we are only targeting people with upcoming birthdays.
However, we know that each person’s birthday is a different date and we need to tailor our timing to their actual birthdate.
So how can we display a message that will effectively communicate our offer but also at the right time?
The answer lies in messaging automation.
With messaging automation, we can tailor our message to the person’s birthday only if we have the person’s birthdate.
In order to get their birthdate, we need them to sign up for the offer.
The best way to get them to sign up for an offer is with a birthday landing page.
Your Ad Needs To Link To The Offer Explanation
The reason why I brought up the last two points before getting into what we are actually going to write in your messaging is because we need those two elements before we can write a message that moves the customer forward.
Now that we have two of the biggest elements ready (attention and call to action), we can write an effective birthday club message.
The birthday club message should start with the offer.
The offer needs to be written in an exciting way to get the customer’s attention.
Remember, this will be in the Facebook News Feed, where hundreds if not thousands of other posts are trying to grab your same customers’ attention.
So how can we write first in our message to make it stand out?
We can use emojis.
Emojis are a great way to communicate through text while also portraying the same way as an image.
The balloon emoji and celebratory emojis are great examples of how we can grab someone’s attention which instantly communicates to them what our message is about in less than 1 second.
Next, we need to describe the offer. You can literally put what your offer is here.
For example:
“Get a $20 gift certificate for use after your birthday visit”
Then, you need to provide a call to action:
“Claim here: [link]”
But that’s not enough to get someone to click a link.
One way to tell the customer why they should sign up is with social proof.
You can easily add reviews to your ad copy like how I explain it here.
Then, you want to put in the link one more time so your potential customer doesn’t have to scroll up or down just to click on the link.
Lastly, you want an eye-catching image or video.
In the end, your restaurant birthday club message should look something like this:
