1. Target People Who Are Eligible To Write A Review
To get more online reviews, you must only target people who qualify for writing a good review.
You can find these people if you collect emails or contact information from your customers.
This can be done in the pre-experience or in-experience.
In the pre-experience, it can happen if someone signs up for a coupon or information during their customer journey.
In the in-experience, it can be when you or your staff ask them for their email for follow up purposes, or any one of these other purposes.
Once you have their email, you also have to attach a piece of data to your customer’s profile in order to know that they visited.
2. Message Possible Online Reviewers
With email marketing providers, you can add a contact to a group or add a tag to a contact, which will tell you if they are a customer.
Then you can segment your automated messages to only send to the people within those groups or with those tags. Moreover, if you have more data such as what they purchased, when they purchased it, etc, you can send an even more personalized message based on their experience.
For example, instead of sending a message to “Write a review based on your experience.” you can send a message to “Write a review based on your Fish & Chips.” The customer is much more likely to write a review because the message resonates with them.
3. Track Online Reviewer Progress
The best part about this process is that it is fully trackable. You can clearly see who opened which emails, who clicked on which links, and who ended up giving feedback.
Pro tip: Even though your goal here is to move your customers towards writing a review, you always want automated message for if they don’t move forward is a specific step. For example, if they didn’t open any emails after you sent them 3, it’s time to retarget that person on social media. If they opened your emails but didn’t click, there might be one of many reasons why they didn’t click. Last, if they clicked the link but you don’t see a review from them, they might not have the confidence to submit a review or they just need a little push.
